Scrolls at your pace

Set a words-per-minute speed and the script glides past the guide line. Fine-tune it live with the arrow keys — no stopping mid-take.

Mirror mode for real rigs

Reading through beam-splitter glass flips your text. One toggle flips it back, so what you see in the reflection reads correctly.

Voice follow, where supported

In Chrome and Edge, TelePrompt can listen and highlight the words as you say them. Everywhere else, auto-scroll carries the show.

Private by design

Scripts live in your browser's local storage on this device only. No accounts, no uploads — your drafts never leave your machine.

Frequently asked questions

Is TelePrompt free?

Yes. The teleprompter is free to use, supported by ads on the setup screen, with no sign-up and no download. The prompting screen itself is kept completely ad-free so nothing distracts you while you read.

Where are my scripts stored?

Only in your own browser, in its local storage on this device. Your scripts are never uploaded to a server — we don't have accounts or a database of scripts. If you clear your browser data, your saved scripts are cleared with it.

What is mirror mode?

Real teleprompter rigs reflect the screen off beam-splitter glass in front of the camera lens, which flips the text left-to-right. Mirror mode flips the prompting text horizontally so it reads correctly in the reflection.

What does voice follow do?

In browsers that support the Web Speech API (Chrome and Edge on desktop), voice follow listens through your microphone and highlights the words as you speak them, so the script keeps up with you instead of the other way around. In other browsers the button simply doesn't appear, and the auto-scroll works the same everywhere. Audio is processed by your browser and is never recorded or sent to us.

What scroll speed should I use?

Most people read aloud comfortably at 130–160 words per minute. Start near 140 wpm, record a test take, and adjust: if you keep catching up to the text, slow down; if you're waiting for it, speed up. You can fine-tune the speed with the arrow keys while it scrolls.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. The layout adapts to small screens, so a phone propped under your camera works as a simple prompter. Fullscreen mode hides the browser chrome for a cleaner read.

TelePrompt runs entirely in your browser — fast, free, no sign-up.
